U.S.A. Team announced to face the Republic of Ireland, 17/04/02'

U.S.A.Coach Bruce Arena has named an 18 man squad to face us next Wednesday at Lansdowne. There are few names recognisable to us on the domestic and european circuit, however five premier league players are on the sheet. With one from english Div 1 and others drawn from the Dutch or Bundes-league, other named players hail from their home soccer leagues.

According to Arena his selection process has taken some four years. Ones to watch are obviously Sunderland Midfielder Reyna, and Blackburn Netminder, Friedel. Friedel is the man who has put a hold on Alan Kellys career at Ewood Park, Blackburn Rovers home. Jason Mc Ateer could go head to head with Reyna, while Duff will hopefully put the ball past club team-mate Friedel

The Republic of Ireland players have forfeited all of their win bonus's from the World cup qualifier in Iran last November, and also a collection which was taken from the Fans at the Denmark game played in March, to the "New York Fire Fighters Department", as a mark of respect to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
